Serving in the United States Army brought Kate Tagert and Edward Whitford together. Dedicating their lives to their country brought more than just a career for this couple. The two met while stationed in Fort Stewart, Georgia, living close to one another in Savannah.
During a quiet night at home, Edward proposed to Kate. The couple was married at The Inn at Longshore in Westport by officiate Catherine Herbin. Reception celebrations were held at The Inn at Longshore as well, where family and friends danced the night away.
Kate is the daughter of Gudrun and Rory Tagert of Southport. She attended Fairfield High School before moving on to receive her bachelor’s degree from American University in communications, law, economics and government. Kate received her JD at New York Law. She currently works as an attorney for the US Army-Judge Advocate in Richmond, Virginia.
The groom is the son of Nancy and David Whitford of Champaign, Illinois. David graduated from Centennial High School in Champaign and received his bachelor’s degree from DePauw University in history and English literature. He received his JD from DePaul University and is currently working as a lawyer for the Army-Judge Advocate in Alexandria, Virginia.
The couple honeymooned in Napa, California.
