Katharine Tremaine & Thomas Buchanan

Katharine Hall Tremaine and Thomas Matthew Buchanan are an internationally minded couple. Kady met Tom, a native of New Zealand, while working at UBS in New York. The couple eventually decided that it would be an adventure to live in a different part of the world, so they both acquired jobs in Hong Kong. After five years of dating, Tom proposed to Kady in a 1936 Chris Craft on Lake Muskoka in Canada.

The wedding and reception took place in Jamaica at the Rock House Hotel built high above volcanic rocks that dramatically jut out into the ocean. After the ceremony, which was presided over by Minister Oliver Ramsay, the couple was whisked away by a sight-seeing boat to cruise the harbor before returning to the reception.

Kady is a Realtor for Habitat Realty in Hong Kong. She is a graduate of Deerfield Academy and earned a bachelor’s degree in U.S. history and international relations from Brown University. She is the daughter of Niki Tremaine of Fairfield and John Tremaine of New Canaan.

Tom works for UBS as the head of Australian & New Zealand Equity Sales for Asia. He graduated from New Plymouth High School and earned a bachelor of law from Otago University and a master of law from the University of South Wales. He is the son of Roger and Elizabeth Buchanan of Auckland, New Zealand.

The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and now lives in Hong Kong with their dog, Chopstick.
