Make the Pass

You find a free hour, but your go-to studio is closed. Or your favorite class is filled. Or you’re a little been there/done that with your regular class. So you’re not exactly “cheating” on your regular coach, but you are thinking of trying another specialized workout. Enter ClassPass.

This monthly subscription service, in more than fifty-five cities across the country, is a network of fitness studios and gyms. When you join ClassPass, you can sign up to take individual classes at all of them without being a member of the studios. Your ClassPass membership is your access.

Just book a spot through the app. Each booking uses up a number of credits that are available to you each month. For example, a $29/month program gets you 15 credits, which will book anywhere between three to five classes, depending on which studio and class you choose.

Can you add more credits? Sure. Can you quit if you don’t like it? Of course, though there will be a reactivation fee if you decide to join up again. The half step between all and nothing is a trial session. Check out classpass.com to see the studio specialties (barre, pilates, yoga, weights, indoor spinning, and so forth) that are available locally. Also, if you can’t work out in a group session because you are not feeling great or you’re traveling, access the online videos.

Looks like your 2019 New Year’s Resolution just got its second wind.
