Celebrating 40 years of service to the community, Open Doors Shelter marked the occasion on April 25 with an anniversary gala and auction. The organization addresses poverty and homelessness in the Norwalk area, helping neighbors find housing stability. Open Doors honored Brendan McGee, owner of Brendan’s 101 in Rowayton, with the Luminary Award for his efforts to close the hunger gap. The nonprofit calls McGee “an extraordinary example of community support and the impact that a local business owner can make for those who are most in need.” Funds raised from the benefit will help the nonprofit provide food, shelter, clothing, outreach and other much-needed resources.
