Rachel Katz and Seth Forman met through mutual friends at a birthday party in New York City. It took Seth one week to call Rachel, a time period that seemed far too long for Rachel. But she took the call and they began dating exclusively from date one. These Manhattanites were a couple for two and a half years before they became engaged while vacationing in Costa Rica. Seth took Rachel on an excursion to a boutique hotel where he had heard the most beautiful sunsets in Costa Rica occurred. On top of a mountain with the backdrop of a magical view, Seth got on one knee and proposed. Discreetly, just ahead of time, he was able to ask a gentleman sitting nearby to take pictures as the proposal happened.
Rabbi Tom Weiner officiated at the ceremony at the Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, New York, where the reception followed. During the ceremony, Rabbi Weiner asked the bride and groom to turn around and look at their guests. He remarked that this was a unique moment, a time that could never be repeated with all their loved ones present to witness this auspicious occasion.
The bride, daughter of Stuart and Suzanne Katz of Greenwich, graduated from the Greenwich High School and Syracuse University. Rachel is the manager of women’s accessories design for Armani Exchange in New York City.
The groom, son of Daniel and Linda Forman of Scarsdale, graduated from Edgemont High School and Syracuse University. Seth is the director of business development for Travelzoo.com in New York City.
The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Bali before returning home to Manhattan.
