High school sweethearts Sara Hessel and John Taxiltaridis married this past fall. The night before Christmas Eve, John asked Sara to be his girlfriend forever. Dinner plans were made and although Sara suspected a proposal over the holidays, she was surprised when John proposed. As Sara rushed out the door, John asked her to hold an assortment of boxes he had been carrying, the last of which was the box with an engagement ring. The couple headed to Southport to celebrate at Grey Goose.
At St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield, the Reverend William Sangiovanni officiated at the ceremony. To celebrate, the reception was held at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich in Old Greenwich. While enjoying the reception, the couple made sure to step back and appreciate all the people who have been part of their journey, through all the different stages of their lives, including celebrating the couple’s union.
Sara is the daughter of Patricia and James Hessel of Fairfield. She attended Fairfield High School and received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in education, both from Lehigh University. Sara is now working as an insurance agent at Bankers Life and Casualty in Milford. The son of Victoria and Stefano Taxiltaridis of Fairfield, John attended Fairfield High School. He moved on to the University of Connecticut to complete his bachelor’s degree in sociology. John currently is the restaurant owner of Beachside Deli and Pizza in Fairfield.
The couple honeymooned in Bora-Bora before returning home to Bridgeport.
