Simple and Chic

It seems more today than ever before couples are choosing unique and different wedding venues to celebrate their big day such as barns, vineyards and even their own backyard. As beautiful as those venues are most of the time they are a blank canvas that the couple needs to fill in with beautiful and interesting decorations. With more and more couples deciding to host their own wedding celebration it means that couple needs to curate all of the wedding decorations for that celebration and still be unique. A few months back I started to notice a trend from the brides and couples who were emailing via the Ask Maggie section on the Rustic Wedding Chic blog, they were all looking for a suggestion for a store where they could find not only great looking items for the DIY types.

As difficult as it was for these readers to find a source it was equally as easy for me to offer one, Ikea! With Ikea having a store in New Haven I had spent a Saturday or two roaming up and down the aisles finding great party, wedding and decorating tools. Ikea is known for their stylish products at a lower price tag.

If you only thought of Ikea as a home furnishing store then be prepared to think of it in an entirely new and different way. If you ask me Ikea is one stop shopping for wedding decor, party supplies and decorations. On one of my last visits to Ikea I found myself in the frame department where I noticed these very simple white frames that I was sure would make the perfect table number holder you can buy them for your wedding and as a bonus you can use them to showcase your wedding pictures post-wedding.

Vases are another area where I often hear from brides who need some help locating — with more brides choosing simple flowers like bundles of wildflowers, a simple yet sleek vases is needed. I found a beautiful shaped glass vase which looks great on the wedding tables.
