The 2013 Insider's Guide

01. How to Recall a Woodstock Vibe
At the Rowyaton Summer Music Festival at Bayley Beach, great bands–some of them almost famous, like NRBQ–fire up on the sand and the town’s perennial party attitude gets its most feverish expression. Those business folks in their power suits whom you usually glimpse on the train are all here, barefoot and very glad to see you. Shows are scheduled most Sundays throughout the summer, kicking off at 5:30 p.m.

16. Make Friends Who Go the Distance
When you join the Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club, you ride with others at your own skill level. The club-organized tours cover both the street and mountain-biking scenes. Members can do just the group rides, or pedal and then participate in numerous social events organized by the club. Lose pounds, make friends and see Connecticut. soundcyclists.com

25. Another Step Closer to Downton Abbey
There is tea, and then there is British high tea. Why just sling a Lipton bag into the microwave when you can plan a peak experience for your fancy friends, complete with finger sandwiches, cakes and pastries? Call up Carolyn Eddie, a Darien mother of three and owner of Carolyn’s Absolutely Fabulous Events, who puts together private parties and cooking classes. She also makes a sensational scone, the likes of which you’ve never had. 203-656-0533

32. Get Clad in a Killer Suit
Want a suit that fits with James Bond perfection? Old-world craftsman Salvatore Prochilo, who learned the trade in Italy, can craft a custom-made suit that will hang perfectly, even as you disarm terrorists. If disarming the board of directors is more your speed, he’ll make the classic business suit. He also makes custom shirts, in addition to alterations. Visit his upstairs shop at 102 Main Street in New Canaan. 203-966-0415

50. Perfect Place for a Budding Picasso
We like the scenic location and friendly atmosphere at the Silvermine Arts Center. Here, kids have access to classes in ceramics, writing, digital works, painting, printmaking and more. According to the center, classes are offered for artists ranging in age from two to 102. After a session of self-expression, head across the street to the Silvermine Market for a satisfying lunch and make your day complete. silvermineart.org
