Westport Shop Openings – Summer 2023

The warming weather brought with it some newcomers on the Westport shopping scene. These Westport shop openings join an influx of spring new additions, like OKA on Main Street, in creating a dynamic retail community downtown.

BIRDDOGS

In May, Westport became home to the third brick-and-mortar location for birddogs in the tri-state area. The store carries a full assortment of men’s shorts and will be launching a new line of polos this summer. “We are specifically known for our shorts — which all come with a built-in, brief-style liner,” says Jack Sullivan, chief operating officer. “Some of them you can dress up like the Uncle Bucks, and others that are a little better for more day-to-day activities like the Flying Wasp.” birddogs is also debuting a new men’s bathing suit this summer.

GORJANA

In June, this Laguna Beach-based jewelry brand brought its second Connecticut location to Westport. The 1,000-square-foot store will feature the brand’s signature designs including fine necklaces, earrings, bracelets and more. “The shimmering Gold Coast is the perfect backdrop for our Westport store, inspired by the design of a Southern California bungalow,” says Gorjana Reidel, co-founder. She adds the team is looking forward to welcoming the Westport community to the store all summer. “They can work with our incredible in-store stylists to find the perfect layered look for fun in the sun.”

RHONE

This men’s apparel shop was founded by New Canaan brothers Nate and Ben Checketts in 2014, and has its corporate headquarters in Stamford, so downtown Westport was the perfect location for a new store. “We wanted to have a flagship store, within 15-20 minutes of our corporate headquarters, where our team could go, where we could invite our friends,” Nate, Rhone’s CEO says. The store features its Commuter Collection of clothes. Inspired by long commutes to the city from Connecticut, the collection includes the Commuter Pull-on Pant and the Commuter Shirt, both designed for comfort as well as appearance and are made from eco-friendly material.
