Dark Side

People of Note

What goes on at a museum after-hours, when all the visitors shuffle away? Do the exhibits come to life? Now’s your chance to find out. The Fairfield Museum and History Center (FMHC) is launching its Museum After Dark program. Held the night before the opening of a new exhibit, these secret-society events let you rub elbows with history lovers, artists and local legends while getting a privileged first crack at the exhibits and indulging in cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. While it’s not reanimated artifacts, it is a creative new opportunity to learn about town. Topics change throughout the year.

Chris Frantz

The Museum After Dark series kicks off with Fairfield Rocks! The event, sponsored by First Niagara Bank, is on January 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. The evening features a panel discussion with music makers, hosted by Frantz. Fairfield Living magazine asked him for some insights into the upcoming event. Here’s what he told us about the exhibit…

What was your main criteria for choosing the artists in the Rockin’ Top Ten?
“There are a lot of great musicians in the area, but we decided that, like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we should stick with people whose work has stood the test of time.”

How did you come up with such a diverse list of artists?
“I thought it was important to show how diverse the community is artistically and ethnically even…You have all kinds of people making music in Fairfield.”
