Tracy Ryan and Jay Davies met on Nantucket five years ago through mutual friends who had no idea that they were both from Darien. Tracy and Jay quickly discovered they had a lot in common. They both grew up summering on the island and knew many of the same people. Fast-forward to the weekend before Christmas of 2010. That’s when Jay invited Tracy to the rooftop on the thirty-seventh floor of their Manhattan apartment building. As they gazed out over the lights of the city, Jay took Tracy’s breath away when he asked for her hand in marriage.
Nantucket was the natural choice for the couple’s wedding, as it is a cherished destination for both families. The Reverend Ted Anderson married the couple at the Unitarian Universalist Church and a reception followed at the Sankaty Head Golf Club.
The bride is the daughter of Diane and Mike Ryan of Darien. A graduate of Bucknell University, Tracy holds a bachelor of science in business administration and works in finance for UBS in Manhattan.
The groom is the son of Mary Elizabeth Davies of Carmel, California, and John Davies of Rancho Santa Fe, California. Jay graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor of science. He is in real estate with Winston Hospitality Inc., a company based in New York City.
The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in the Maldives. They are now based in Manhattan.
