Light His Fire

Brides and Grooms are always looking for a way to make their wedding reception an entertaining, exciting, and memorable event for their guests. Connecticut Cigar Company of Stamford offers a cool way to fire up your guests. One chat with co-owner Nick Casinelli and you’ll be sold on this fun idea. You can hire CCC’s expert cigar roller to come to your event and hand roll cigars for you and your guests, while either Nick or his business partner Peter Falcetti help guests choose which blend they’ll like, and offer advice on how to “get the best smoke”. Nick and Peter want their clients to enjoy their cigar smoking experience so they will carefully “match the guests’ tastes to the right tobacco blend”. Nick also says that, “one thing we’ve forgotten about over the years is that a cigar was meant to be a celebratory item”, used to commemorate special moments like a wedding or the birth of a child.

Nick and Peter’s all natural tobacco has no additives and is imported (through Miami) from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Brazil. They use only long leaf filler (no scraps), to create a smooth, even smoke. CCC is busy establishing their brand by creating a unique blend of tobacco that is sorted, pressed, rolled, and wrapped in their Stamford store. On any given day you can stroll by their store and see their cigar roller crafting cigars at his table by the window.

Cigar rolling is an art form that is passed down from generation to generation. CCC’s cigar roller formerly worked for some of the biggest names in cigar manufacturing like Arturo Fuente and Davidoff. At your reception the cigar roller, dressed in a tuxedo or Cuban attired (your choice), will take each cigar out of the case and put on the outer wrapper by individually rolling it for your guests. The rolling process is fascinating to watch and “makes for a fun social moment for everyone at the wedding reception”.

Nick says about half of the weddings are arranged as surprises for the groom. He told me about one bride who surprised her new husband by creating a hip bar environment (she even had neon signs) on the waterfront terrace of L’Escale in Greenwich. The cigar roller was set up next to a table featuring his favorite cocktail, Johnny Walker Black on the rocks. The groom and their guests were thrilled; it really personalized the night.

If you want to light up your event by hiring Connecticut Cigar Company’s hand roller to provide his expertise at your wedding reception be sure to book ahead as their business is smokin’ hot. However Nick points out that, “Even a day’s notice will do as long as we’re available”.
