Edward John Hubbard, known as Ted, was home from a deployment in Iraq when he was spending time with friends at a bar in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. It was there that he met Allison Lauren Johnston, who was in town visiting her parents. The pair began dating, but for the next two years Ted served our country in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Allison waited patiently for his arrival home. It was all worth the wait when Ted proposed while the couple was enjoying an evening beach picnic.
Dr. Kenneth Ambrose officiated at the ceremony at the Ocean Club Resort in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. In keeping with tradition, Ted and Allison entered the reception under the raised swords of eight U.S. Marine Corps officers, several of whom had served in combat with the groom.
The bride, daughter of Nancy and Russell Johnston of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, graduated from Wake Christian Academy and Lipscomb University. She is a student of esthetics at Graham-Webb Academy.
The groom, son of Bess and George Hubbard of Greenwich, graduated from the Hotchkiss School and Boston College. He is a captain in the United States Marine Corps.
Following a honeymoon in Antigua, the newlyweds returned home to Washington, D.C.
