Catherine Merrick Demmerle, known as Cara, and Peter James Kelly met while both were working at Avalere Health in 2007. Peter claims he saw Cara before they officially met, when he spotted her through the windows at Bertucci’s Pizza in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C. Eighteen months later, Peter proposed to Cara in her apartment, which was followed by dinner at Tabard Inn and champagne at the W Hotel.
The next night, Peter surprised Cara once again with a celebratory dinner with both of their families. Father David Marcotte officiated at the ceremony at St. Michael the Archangel Church, and a reception followed at the Field Club of Greenwich.
The bride, daughter of Kate Demmerle of Greenwich and the late Peter Demmerle, graduated from Greenwich High School and Yale. She received a master of health science degree in health policy from Johns Hopkins University. Mrs. Kelly is a health insurance specialist at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington.
The groom, son of Lucy and Kevin Kelly of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, is a graduate of Princeton. He will receive his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business in 2013. Mr. Kelly is a consultant with Avalere Health in Washington.
