Alexander Saffi was clearly not a believer in the “three-day rule.” After a mutual friend introduced him to Cynthia Schmidt in a Manhattan bar, he asked for her number and reached out to her the next day. Later that week, they went on their first date.
A year later, Alex arranged to celebrate Cynthia’s birthday together on Nantucket, a favorite getaway for the couple. But as they walked by the Brant Point Lighthouse, he got down on one knee and proposed. To add to the excitement, Alex had invited their families and Cynthia’s best friend to watch the big moment and celebrate together for the rest of the weekend.
Pastor John P. Duffell officiated the ceremony at the Church of
St. Augustine in Larchmont, New York. A reception at the Larchmont Yacht Club followed, where the bride and groom performed a Bruce Springsteen medley for their guests.
The bride is the daughter of Barbara and Karl Schmidt of New Canaan. She is the head of marketing at Nic+Zoe in Boston. The groom is the son of Christine and Joseph Saffi of Brookfield, Connecticut. He is a tax attorney for General Electric in Boston.
The newlyweds honeymooned in the Seychelles and South Africa, where they visited Cape Town and went on safari. They recently moved from New York City to Boston.
