A romantic dinner. Check. Fireworks. Check. A leisurely moonlit stroll on the beach. Check. Jennifer Garcia recalls a getaway in Cabo with longtime boyfriend Jefferson Allen. “I was certain he’d get down on one knee…until he didn’t,” says Jen. It was not until the couple decided to retire for the evening and Jen returned to her hotel room, that she found her boyfriend on bended knee and the room illuminated with candles and scattered with red rose petals. Jen tearfully accepted the proposal and the couple toasted with champagne and phoned their parents with the good news.
The ceremony and reception were held at the One and Only Palmilla in Los Cabos, Mexico. The couple incorporated the country’s traditions—from traditional lasso sand ceremonies to the tequila bar to the mariachi band—into the ceremony and the festivities following it.
Jen, the daughter of Gloria and Peter Garcia of Westport, is an editor for People magazine.
