Meghan Moore and Kyle Moran

Meghan Moore and Kyle Moran met by chance when he was visiting a friend at the University of Virginia, where she was a student. They became friends and started dating two years later. When Meghan was home for her Christmas break in December 2011, Kyle took her to Southport for lunch, a place where they’d spent many happy afternoons. He suggested they walk down to the beach, but she had no idea what he had planned. “I hope our day at Wee Burn is as beautiful as this,” he said, as he got down on one knee and asked Meghan to marry him.

Their wedding day was filled with special mementos from the couple’s family. The bride wore her mother’s veil for the ceremony at St. Thomas More in Darien. Meghan’s grandmother, an artist, painted the knife used to cut their cake, and the couple toasted with Champagne glasses that were gifts from the bride’s parents on the day of their engagement. The reception venue, Wee Burn Beach Club, was also special to the bride. Meghan’s grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. John M. Wilson, were married there in 1950 as were her aunt and uncle. The bride remembers many happy summers at the beach with her parents, grandparents and siblings, Patrick and Kelly.

The bride is the daughter of Mary and Michael Moore of Darien. She attended Darien High School and got her bachelor’s degree in Spanish and economics at the University of Virginia. Meghan earned a master’s in education at Boston College and is a Spanish teacher in Darien public school.

The groom is the son of Kathleen and David Moran of Greenwich. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Bucknell University and is a manager at Team Epic in Norwalk. The couple now live in New Canaan.
