Quality for Life

For nearly twenty years, the Lexington Company has been known for its sophisticated take on New England style with a Scandinavian twist. Offering home and men’s and women’s fashion lines, the lifestyle company was founded by CEO and creative director Kristina Lindhe in 1997. Although she hails from Sweden, Lindhe felt a kinship with the style and architecture of Lexington, a small town near Boston often celebrated as the birthplace of the American Revolutionary War. “All of the stories from Independence Day and the war started in Lexington; something new was coming,” Lindhe says. “When we started, we were also doing something new; we turned traditional business upside down.”

That revolutionary thinking was behind the company’s first line of products—bed linens made from shirt fabrics such as oxford cloth, poplin and flannel. “If you have a quality shirt made with good fabric, you can really feel the difference, so the idea was to transform shirt fabric into bedding,” says Lindhe. “I still have bedding from when we started because the quality is that good!”

Represented in markets all over the world, Lexington arrived in Greenwich four years ago and felt right at home. “Our customers like clean and simple designs,” says Lindhe. “Quality is really important to them.”

That focus on quality and casual luxury is behind all of the brand’s offerings, including its bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen and dining wares and its fashion lines. Featuring bedding and accessories such as pillows, blankets and towels, its seasonal home product collections—spring, summer, fall and holiday—are introduced four times a year and are complemented by the Icons Collection, a line of home basics.

As an extension of the brand, Lindhe recently published Living with Lexington, an autobiographical book about her childhood, insights on color, quality and the seasons, and advice on transforming a home. “It’s a mix of stories, from how it all started for me to how to make a bed in the best way,” Lindhe says. “It’s more personal than just an interior design book.” Available in English and Swedish, it’s perfect for anyone interested in living the Lexington lifestyle.
