The Westport Garden Club is hosting Speaker Geordie Elkins, executive director of Highstead, to speak on “The Essential Role of Native Plants in Our Landscape” on Thursday 4/4, 1 p.m at St Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Rd South +Youth Poetry Contest Sunday, 4/28 at 2 p.m. The Westport Library (Room: Brooks Place)

In honor of National Poetry Month and Earth Day, The Westport Garden Club is hosting a youth poetry event where the finalists of the Westport Garden Club’s Youth Poetry Contest will be reading their work alongside Westport Poet Laureate, Jessica Noyes McEntee. Jessica Noyes McEntee will also be leading a workshop where you can write your own poem.

A Day at the Museum

On Sunday, 5/4 MoCA Westport will be hosting The Artisan Marketplace *Spring Edition* and the Upscale Garage Sale from 12PM-4PM. Magical for Mother’s Day

This year the Wilton Garden Club will be celebrating its 103rd year and 85th Mother’s Day Weekend sale on 5/8, 5/10 and 5/11. Since 1939, this annual tradition has been enthusiastically attended and supported by the community. Divine Bites

The Culinary Event of the Year! The 18th Annual Taste of Westport on 5/22 from 6PM-9:30PM celebrating its 18th year is now back for the third year in a row at the iconic Inn at Longshore. The event benefits local non-profit CLASP and its mission of providing a lifetime of care and inspiration to adults with autism and developmental disabilities throughout Fairfield County. The evening will feature 24 restaurants, a vodka and caviar experience, six bars with spirits, speciality cocktails, wine and beer and a tequila tasting table. A Weekend That Strikes A Cord

Just one upcoming weekend at the Levitt Pavilion this June highlights the incredible range of programming coming up this season – which starts in May! Bonus: These three shows are presented free-of-charge!

Friday 6/28: LULADA CLUB.  The captivating rhythms of Lulada Club, an electrifying all-women salsa band, are setting the New York City music scene ablaze – and have recently been featured in Rolling Stone.

Saturday 6/29: Buffalo Nichols.  Carl “Buffalo” Nichols does things with the blues that might catch you off guard. There’s 808 programming, chopped up Charley Patton samples, washes of synth.

Sunday 6/30: The NYC Ska Orchestra. This 20-piece big band creates and performs lush original compositions and arrangements of songs from the rich Jamaican music styles of ska, mento, rock steady, reggae, and jazz from the 1950s and 60s. For more information visit www.levittpavillion.com

The lineup at the Westport Country Playhouse is impressive this season! Some highlights include An Evening with Bernadette Peters on 5/19 at 7PM. The critically acclaimed star of Broadway, film, television and recordings, while perform an inspiring evening of songs from the great music masters. The three-time Tony recipient and multi-award winner creates an intimate audience experience when she performs celebrated selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman and other legends. All audience members are invited to meet and mingle together at a post-performance party! On 6/6 at 8PM Tony Kushner will be onstage. The event with the American author, Pulitzer Prize-winning Playwright, Screenwriter & Activist will consist of an onstage interview, after which he will take audience questions. A book signing will follow. Lauded for his work on stage, he is most known for his seminal work Angels in America, which earned a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award, as well as its subsequent acclaimed HBO miniseries of the same name. The New Canaan Library Spring Edition

You won’t want to miss The New Canaan Library Spring Edition event on 5/ 22. On 4/ 8 Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE) will hold its annual Spring Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency beginning at 11AM and virtually at 12:15PM. Famous for her standout role in Saturday Night Live, featured speaker Cecily Strong, who once worked for Planned Parenthood, now produces and stars in the Apple TV comedy SCHMIGADOON. Rock N’ Raise

Rock N’ Raise is Person to Person‘s spring fundraiser, taking place on 4/4 from 6PM-10PM at The Loading Dock, located adjacent to P2P’s Stamford warehouse and mobile food pantry. The event will feature dinner, signature cocktails and entertainment by The Nerds, an energetic, rock n’ roll cover band. Rock N’ Raise will be an entertaining night with a purpose, celebrating compassion and community spirit.

Parade Season

The annual Stamford Memorial Day Parade will be held this year on 5/19 at noon with a 6/2 rain date. The route begins at the Stamford Police Department to Veterans Memorial Park via Bedford Street, across Broad Street and continuing on Atlantic Street.
