1. Westport Farmers Market
When: Thursdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Where: 50 Imperial Avenue
The beloved Westport Farmers Market has been open since 2006 and has doubled in size from then. They have a list of standards that each vendor must meet to ensure customers get “real food from real farmers,” Westportfarmersmarket.com notes.
2. Compo Beach
Compo Beach has lots to offer besides the soft sand and the salty sound. June 30 is the annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration (rain date of July 1), look out for when tickets go on sale. There have not been fireworks at Compo Beach for two years, so expect a grand finale this year. The annual Westport YMCA Annual Point-to-Point Swim will be held at Compo Beach. The event is open to ages 10 and up, the 2022 date is to be decided.
3. Levitt Pavilion for the performing arts
Where: 40 Jesup Road
The Levitt Pavilion is a great place to sit back and listen to some great music. The Levitt has over 10 concerts during the summer months. Some events include Michael Franti & Spearhead on June 19 and American Patchwork Quartet on Aug. 7. When The Levitt isn’t hosting a concert, it is also a great place for a summer picnic.
4. Downtown Westport (shopping)
Main Street in Westport has a lot to offer. It’s the perfect place to spend the day. It offers a wide range of shops from clothing and jewelry to home and skincare stores. For clothes and accessories, downtown has brand names like Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters to family businesses like Lux Bond & Green and Soleil Toile to local boutiques like Savvy + Grace and the jewelry store Middlemarch. Wanting to spice up your home? Downtown Westport has all the right stores for that like Serena & Lily, LoveSac and Pottery Barn. Can’t forget about your skincare routine. 5. MoCA (Museum of Contemporary Arts)
MoCA is Westports Museum of Contemporary Arts. They’re current exhibition, Punk Is Coming, is a group exhibition from over 50 photographers featuring their work that defined the punk era in the 1970s, it is on view from March 26 through June 5. Spark, from June 12 through June 19, is a district wide exhibit with pieces from students in the Westport Public Schools. The exhibition was curated by the Westport Public Schools Visual Arts program. Staples High School students interning at MoCA will be assisting in the installation of the exhibition to get a deeper understanding of the intricacies of installing an exhibition at a museum. On June 30, Call for Art opens which displays female voices through textile and fiber artistry. Along with exhibitions MoCA hosts musical guests and on June 4 Westport Pride is hosting a family friendly drag show called All 4 Drag and Drag for All. MoCA also has a summer camp for ages 3.5-8 and an intensive art camp for ages 9-12.
