Kid Chic

Even with the huge selection of children’s clothing on the market, it can be hard to find tailored classics distinctive enough to win both mom and kid approval. A new line called Jeune Arbre manages to strike that delicate balance. The brand is the brainchild of Brooklyn moms Leah Rosenberg and Shaindy Lax; and the clothes are made in New York from beautiful fabrics with fun details, like a white brocade cotton top with hot-pink zipper down the back and a peach wool dress lined in satin with a red satin ribbon belt. The new Greenwich Avenue shop is a pristine, pared-down space with a very edited selection of clothing, grouped by outfit with just one of each size on the rack—pieces are one-of-a-kind, so once they sell out, they’re not made again in the same fabrics. There’s also a kids’ corner, where your little ones can chill out on faux fur beanbags or play with toys while you shop. Leah and Shaindy launched their line in sizes 2 to 14, but they quickly added designs for babies and now a toddler line, which will be available this fall. Also for fall, watch for chic girls’ dresses in tweed and other sophisticated fabrics as well as some more casual play-wear. 89 Greenwich Avenue, 203-769-5523; jeunearbre.com
