Happy Anniversary

Seems like only yesterday when Mike Tetreau took the job as Fairfield’s interim first selectman. But it was last June, and he expected some level of baptism by fire. But no one said anything about wind, snow and water. Barely two months after he moved to Town Hall, Hurricane Irene swept through town. And two months after that, a freak blizzard on Halloween paralyzed Fairfield. And all that was before Tetreau even won the election.

Throw in ballooning construction costs at the third train station, a negative rating on the town’s credit, and contentious budget deliberations and you get a sense of what Tetreau’s honeymoon period has been like. He’s not griping though.

Tetreau’s biggest surprise so far? “That I’m having fun,” he reveals.
