Good Workout

When’s the last time you sweated for a good cause? Participants in a fitness challenge hosted by Aspire Fitness and Downunder not only got in a great workout, but also helped children in need. The event, a joint effort by Westport’s newest cutting-edge and holistic fitness studio, and the town’s award-winning kayaking and surf shop, raised funds for Save the Children. Participants put their muscles to the test in a series of physical challenges, including sandbag sprints, kettlebell swings, and balance exercises. Competitors hit the water for a challenging paddle-boarding course before crossing the finish line. The teams worked up an appetite, and thankfully, Craft Butchery was there to donate hamburgers and hotdogs to the crowd. The victors walked away with month-long paddling passes and training passes for Aspire. But the real crowning achievement of the day was that that between donations and matched funds, the event raised $6,140 for Save the Children.
