Beautiful friends having fun for a joyous occasion in a colorful and playful setting is a photographer's dream. I was thrilled to receive the assignment for MJH's shower and knew that the photos would be candid, lively and vibrant. The party was to be two hours of friendship, crafts and good wishes. The challenge was to show the atmosphere and excitement while trying to be unobtrusive, invisible and to work while avoiding the other three photographers in the very small room. I positioned my remote flashes in the corners of the room so that I could "blow out" the unflattering fluorescent light. Capturing the ladies having fun was no problem and the energy was transformed when the mini cakes were brought out for them to decorate. I felt like I was photographing a little girl's party and they each began challenging each other for the best cake decorations.
