Ask a novice to imagine a classic cigar lounge scene and the picture would seem incomplete without black suits, pocket squares, slight British accents, and clouds of white smoke billowing through the open door. Walk through the doors of the Connecticut Cigar Company and what greets you instead is a crisp and subtle scent of tobacco. Feel free to breathe in deeply.
An extensive display of house made, hand-rolled cigars as well as the usual brand name stogies (AVO, Padrón, Arturo Fuente) in the front of the Bank Street store is not outdone by the luxurious lounge in the back. Past the humidor lockers and a small but elegant bar are leather couches, armchairs, glass ashtrays and French art to offer a sophisticated feel to a carefree environment.
Don’t get me wrong; the spread of cigars can be overwhelming for a casual smoker. But owner Nick Casinelli needs less than five minutes of your time to pick
out the perfect one, cut and light it, and make sure it was the right choice (which it was). Whether catering to weddings, planning cigar pairing events,
or showing the big game, the CCC is ready to serve patrons from all walks of life. So feel free to stop by; you’ll fit right in.
Got plans? We couldn’t walk away without asking Nick for his suggestions on what to smoke and where
At a Barbecue
Churchill Natural, a light and smooth, almost creamy cigar that doesn’t overwhelm the palate and lasts about an hour
After Dinner
Maduro, with a touch of spice and pepper, offers a little flavor and bite, and pairs wonderfully with dessert.
At a Wedding
Mini Robusto or Corona. Your date has been waiting to dance, and both choices are light and quick so you can get moving.
New to Cigars
Corona Natural offers a smooth and creamy smoke, while the Maduro adds a dash of spice and pepper. The Maduro was spot-on.
At the Beach or By the Pool
Robusto Natural, a light cigar to complement a cool drink under the hot sun
