Delivering a Dose of Cheer to Stamford Hospital

An enthusiastic team from Northwestern Mutual – Stamford assembled and delivered 100 big green boxes of cheer to the new mothers and hospitalized children at Stamford Hospital on October 2.  This day of smiles for our local hospital began when the local Northwestern Mutual office came together as a team to assemble the Cheeriodicals.  After assembling the gifts, along with a couple of children’s wagons, the team then delivered the surprise gifts to Stamford Hospital in person with a helping hand from Two Men and a Truck Norwalk.

The hospital delivery was the perfect way to allow the Northwestern Mutual team see the impact of the giving by witnessing the smiles in person from the new mothers and hospitalized children.  With the coordinated support from Stamford Hospital, the Northwestern Mutual team assisted in delivering the cheer boxes to the patients.

“This personal day of giving was such a wonderful way for our team to come together to make a difference in our community” said Phil Bender, Northwestern Mutual, Managing Partner.  “Our team always appreciates giving back, especially when it impacts Stamford locally”.

The Cheeriodicals for the new mothers contained an assortment of magazines including Stamford Magazine, new baby clothing and other goodies for the new mothers and their newborns.  The Cheeriodicals for the hospitalized children included kids’ magazines and a box full of toys and playthings designed to distract their attention from being in the hospital.

Cheeriodicals has worked with Northwestern Mutual in more than a dozen markets across the country to deliver its signature bright green boxes to children’s hospitals.  This Stamford delivery was their first to a general hospital with a focus on new mothers along with hospitalized children.  The success of this event will certainly lead to additional deliveries that will include the new mothers.
