Maria Calise and Jon O’Herron became acquainted about fifteen years ago. Jon would grab lunch from Calise’s Food Market, a local mainstay owned by Maria’s sister and brother-in-law. One snowy evening, the pair ran into each other at Dunville’s and struck up a conversation, which ended with a plan for their first date at Positano’s. One date led to another, and the pair embarked upon a “long distance” relationship between Rowayton and Weston so as not to disrupt the lives of their young children from prior marriages.
Now with the children grown and off at college, the couple felt it was the right time to marry and move in together. Justice of the Peace Rhona Lieberson presided over the beachside wedding. As they were saying their vows, the skies opened up with rain, but umbrellas were produced and the ceremony continued. The weather eventually cleared, making way for rainbows and allowing the party to continue at the Inn at Longshore.
The bride holds a degree in culinary arts from Rhode Island School of Design. When she’s not at Calise’s, she works as an outdoor guide for Mountain Workshop and a corporate teambuilder for Fusion Associates. The groom received his undergraduate degree from Williams College. He earned his MBA in finance from Fordham University and is a co-founder and portfolio manager at Gilman Hill Asset Management in Westport.
The couple enjoyed a quiet honeymoon at the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. They currently reside in Westport by the beach.
