Amanda and Robert met the old fashioned way; a mutual friend introduced them one December night in Westport.

After years of dating, Robert treated Amanda to a private dinner on the beach at The Acqualina Resort and Spa in Florida. The sun was setting, and before long, the couple’s beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Ruby, ambled over with a ring tied to her collar.

Reverend Eddie Rodriguez presided over the ceremony at the St. Regis Bal Harbour Open Palm Court in Bal Harbour, Florida, which was followed by an indoor reception. Throughout the affair, the couple found ways to honor Amanda’s late mother, Lois, a lifelong Westport resident. A candle burned in her memory during the ceremony and reception, and the welcome party the previous night was purple themed, the color of the Leiomyosarcoma Foundation. In addition to other personal touches, the couple made a donation to the foundation, in lieu of favors.

The bride is the daughter of the late Lois K. Ruisi and Chris Ruisi of Westport. She attended Joel Barlow High School in Redding before graduating from Fairfield University with a degree in communications. She is the founder and president of AKR Public Relations in Westport.

The groom is the son of Diane and Robert Sorrentino, Sr., of Fairfield. After graduating from Notre Dame High School, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in politics from Fairfield University. He then completed his MBA at Fordham University and is currently a UBS executive for the private wealth management division.

The newlyweds split their time between their residence in New York City and a coastal home in Westport. They will honeymoon in Bora Bora and the south of France this winter.
