Claire Marie Blackburn & Kyle Hughes Drexler

Although Claire Blackburn and Kyle Drexler attended high school together, it wasn’t until after college that the two officially met in New York City, thanks to Kyle’s brother Eric. The couple quietly began dating, and after more than three years together, including a year in Kenya, Kyle started planning how he would propose. During a family holiday on Nantucket, he borrowed a friend’s antique Ford Bronco and drove Claire to their favorite spot on the island’s south shore. There he popped the question over a champagne picnic. The wedding ceremony took place at St. Paul’s Church on Nantucket and was officiated by the Reverend Dr. Hillary Bercovici. A reception at The Nantucket Hotel followed, where Claire’s maid of honor gave a humorous speech recalling the couple’s cautious courtship. Claire is the daughter of Ellen Zumbach of New Canaan and Joseph Blackburn of Vancouver, Canada. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wake Forest University and is the director of Student Finance Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. Kyle is the son of Janet and Blake Drexler of New Canaan. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and is the vice president of StratLink Africa, also in Nairobi. The couple honeymooned in Morocco. The newlyweds currently live in Nairobi.
