As the days continue to grow longer and warmer, it’s time to break out those shades and head out into the sunshine—And what better way to do so than with friends, coworkers, a cold glass of beer and a menu of delicious food? Stamford’s lavish waterfront enclave of Harbor Point brings “foodie” and beach lover destinations to entirely new heights with its inspiring rooftop bar and dining scene. So get ready to drink in the view! Here are three rooftop bars to check out this season.
Fortina
It’s not just rooftop wining and dining at Fortina—it’s a beachy Pizza Surf Club! This tiki-bar-style addition to an already innovative, pleasant dining experience offers a special menu full of tropical drinks, creative snacks and other summer favorites. Upon entering, patrons can purchase one ticket for a food or drink item, or a two-ticket special, with chances to buy more, which is likely, given the tasty treats available. From fruity umbrella drinks to homemade Italian ice served in mini beach buckets, this rooftop spot is sure to go above and beyond all expectations. Pizza Surf Club is open daily from 12 p.m. to closing, weather permitting.
Sign of the Whale
Take in a delicious cocktail and some of the best water views in Stamford at Sign of the Whale’s impressive rooftop beer garden. The 5,000 square foot, full-service bar offers an array of drinks with special deals during its “High Tide Happy Hour,” which occurs every Monday through Friday from 4-7 PM. Enjoy delicious gastropub food in a casual, relaxed setting. You may even get the chance to hop in on a game of life-size Jenga or cornhole—all the essentials for a great summer party by the beach.
Paloma
Stamford’s high-energy, Latin-inspired waterfront destination just got that much more exciting with its new happy hour every Friday starting at 5 PM. The fabulous fiesta, which is full of sweet drink specials and deals, encompasses both levels of the ideally located restaurant. Journey upstairs to the heated rooftop bar overlooking the harbor’s breathtaking sunset, and savor the tequila-infused cocktails, as well as the bold, sleek environment of this quality summer haven.
Keep Your Eye Out…
While enjoying some rooftop relaxation, keep your eye out across the harbor for “Prime,” an American kitchen and bar set to open around Memorial Day. Taking over the former location of Dolce, this newest addition to Stamford’s coastline will offer steaks, seafood, a raw bar, sushi and other creative, fresh seasonal dishes. While a rooftop drink may not be in the books, lovely views of yachts in the marina, open-air seating and an expansive deck with scenic views are certainly a perfect way to celebrate the unofficial start to summer.
