Fit Fetish

Want to stand out at your next barre, cycling, Pilates or yoga class? Juja Active stocks fashion-forward workout wear, bringing thirty specialty brands to the Avenue. With two other locations in the Hamptons, the boutique was founded by former investment banker Jen Russo, who’s been practicing yoga for twenty years. “I was always on the hunt for something better to wear for yoga,” she says. Today, her shops, named after stepdaughters Julia and Jamie, reflect the diverse brands and many women-owned businesses she’s discovered. “We try to have something for every body. Some are perfect for taller women, some for shorter women, low rise, high rise, more supportive, less supportive.”

Sales associates can guide you to the best fit for your body. Brands include Nux, Lime & Vine, ChillbyWill, Electric & Rose, W.I.T.H., and Rules of Play among others, with leggings in bright patterns, glittery stripes, with cut-out details, ruching on top, compression fit, and many other designs and options, all at accessible prices.

For the eco-conscious shopper, Jen carries clothing made of bamboo and recycled plastic. You can complete the look with a cool La Vie Boheme yoga mat and lightweight Italian gym bags from Save My Bag (originally designed as protective covers for Birkin bags). “We bring together performance and fashion,” says Jen. “If you’re trying to motivate yourself to have a more active lifestyle, it’s easier when you’re wearing something fun.”
