What’s in a name? A lot! When it was time to give a title to our magazine, Fairfield Living, we at Moffly Media wanted to make sure that it fit in with our family of town publications. Clearly, the name of the town is critical. As for that word Living in our name, it has a very important role. It distinguishes us and further defines our mission: covering the life and times of this wonderful town now. It’s not static. Instead, it’s active and current. Fresh. Vibrant. And that one word—Living—dedicates us to offering a modern yet always true reflection of the people, places and events here.
We at Moffly Media have been covering Fairfield since 1998 and recognized that the town needed to be treated with distinction. It’s worthy of its own publication from Moffly Media, an award-winning publisher of regional magazines. Fairfield Living is here to provide you with the most original stories, the most creative design, and the best photography. (Just check out what our readers have to say; page 114.)
When I decide what to include in each issue, I ask myself these questions: Is this what Fairfielders really want to read about? Is it unique? Is it helpful? Does it introduce our readers to innovative and inspiring residents? Does it capture the current times of the town? In other words, is it about living here today?
When the answers are yes, I know I’ve got a winner. In this issue, for example, we honor two town residents who are vigorously pushing forward an global issue (Bob and Suzanne Wright of Autism Speaks, in our feature “Light a Fire,” page 47) as well as a piece on an organization that is run by local volunteers and has served our home community for five decades. Did you guess Fairfield Women’s Exchange? (It’s on page 70.)
Such stories reveal the town’s character—your priorities, your talents, your commitment and your generosity. We continue this holiday issue with more stories on music, seasonal traditions, entertaining at home, dining out, and local events—all beautifully written and photographed and thoughtfully cared for in every detail. This issue, like each one we publish, is a bundle of what matters to you: living in Fairfield.
