Ninth Annual Dancing With The Stars

On Saturday night, May 14, Curtain Call celebrated with more than 1,000 friends and fans at the organization’s ninth annual Dancing with the Stars event.

Megan Palmer Rivera (STAMFORD), culinary director for Palmer’s catering, along with her professional dance partner, Nahun Alba (from Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom of Greenwich), cooked up a dance routine worthy of the JUDGES’ CHOICE AWARD (female division), at this annual fundraiser held at the Palace Theatre, Stamford.

Peter Sciarretta, (STAMFORD), CEO of Hemingway Construction, hip-hopped his way to winning the JUDGES’ CHOICE AWARD (male division) with his professional dance partner Jennifer Segovia (from St. Saviour’s School of Dance and Chelsea Piers Dance Academy).  In recognition of his outstanding fundraising efforts for the event, Sciarretta, received the PEOPLES’ CHOICE AWARD (male division).

Stamford resident and co-owner of Inspire Fitness, Wendi Becker Hoak, inspired many to vote for her, winning the PEOPLES’ CHOICE AWARD (female division) with her professional dance partner, Hazael Rojas, an instructor at Latin Moves Dance Studio in Stamford.

For this year’s event, in addition to Hoak, Rivera and Sciarretta, other participants included Rich Davis (STAMFORD) – Manager, Murphy’s Town House – Professional Dance Partner: Justyna Masajlo – Magic Dance; Valerie DeVito (STAMFORD) – Owner / Stylist, Aval Hair Salon  – Professional Dance Partner: Ricardo Sopin – Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom of Greenwich; Steven “Sach” Hagedus (STAMFORD) Bar Manager, Zody’s 19th Hole – Professional Dance Partner: Simone Assboeck, Latin Moves Dance Studio; Todd Kosakowski (STAMFORD) – Restaurant Operator and Developer, East Coast Saloons – Professional Dance Partner: Iraida Volodina – Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom of Greenwich: Terry LaPolice (STAMFORD) –  Real Estate Agent, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services NE Properties – Professional Dance Partner: Karen Casagrande – Founder, Hotshoes;  Telmo Penaloza (STAMFORD) Manager/Matre’ d, Matthew R. Skinner (TOMKINS COVE, NY) Operations Technology & Architecture Supervisor, Reckson, A division of SLGreen Realty Corp. – Professional Dance Partner: Julia Kononenko – Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom of Greenwich; Judy Stewart (STAMFORD) Chair of the Executive Committee, Hanky Panky, LTD – Professional Dance Partner: Ted Thomas – New England Academy of Dance.
