Shiny & New

For its re-entry into brick and mortar, luxury brand Judith Ripka knew it needed to create a destination that set it apart from other jewelry retailers. Acquired by Xcel Brands in 2014, the company has not opened a new store in ten years. For its fresh design concept at The Westchester, inspiration came from modern gallery spaces, where white walls provide a clean backdrop for the case pieces and statement contemporary lighting allows for maximum sparkle. And sparkle, they do. Set throughout the store are Ripka’s signature collections and watches, featuring a mix of precious gems, mother of pearl and a heavy dose of metals. A rotating exhibition will lend to the gallery feel—fine art photographer Laurent Elie Badessi’s work is currently on display—with art and objects available for purchase alongside the jewels. Xcel Chairman and CEO Bob D’Loren hopes to appeal to the local community’s “artistic flair and appreciation for luxury, both of which we are delighted to be a part of,” he says. judithripka.com
