The R&B band Grace Potter & the Nocturnals gave a rousing performance during a benefit concert for The Darien Foundation at The Palace Theatre in Stamford. Fans crowded into the venue to see the Vermont group put on a ferocious performance with Potter—who has been compared to Tina Turner—in the spotlight. Amy Papola of New York led a live auction that featured a week at the Bitter End Yacht Club in the BVIs, a vintage diamond cocktail ring and a Gibson Flying V guitar autographed by Potter, among other items. Legendary guitarist Warren Haynes took the stage toward the end of the night. The money raised will provide funding for technology and capital projects that benefit the Darien community. Since its founding in 1998, the Darien Foundation has awarded over $2.3 million in grants to community organizations, including public schools.
