Vintage Finds

“When you come from France, it’s strange to see how many pieces of furniture people in the U.S. discard,” says Sybille Campbell. For this Paris native who migrated to Manhattan before moving to New Canaan, that out-with-the-old attitude worked to her advantage, as she was able to find many vintage treasures. These pieces, says Campbell, just needed some TLC. Having realized she had a knack for creative furniture restoration, she opened La Grange de S, a furniture and interior design boutique. The showroom, located in a converted eighteenth-century barn, features an eclectic selection of pieces. Think French empire settee upholstered in plum and aubergine velvet that’s paired with a bright pink cowhide; it’s a perfect example of Campbell’s fresh style.
