375th Greenwich Parade

Everyone loves a parade! This Sunday, September 27, opt for your comfortable walking shoes and head to downtown Greenwich for the 375 Greenwich Parade. It’s time to celebrate the town’s big anniversary in a big way.

Here are the details you need to know to help you make the most of the event.

First Step: The parade will start at the steps of Town Hall on Field Point Road at 2 p.m. From there, it will proceed across the Post Road and then down Greenwich Avenue.

Look Up: Expect to see colorful floats and more than 300 marchers, including descendants of Greenwich’s founding families as well as representatives from town organizations and nonprofit agencies.

For the Record: The only media marching in the parade are Greenwich Time and GREENWICH magazine, because of their long involvement in town history.

About Us: Stay in the know and look for GREENWICH magazine’s placards of historic covers, one for each decade starting in the 1940s. Yes, time marches on.

Hand to Heart: A gigantic American flag will be unfurled at the closing ceremony in Havemeyer Field.

Think Big: This parade is expected to be the largest in town history. Get stepping!

Insider Tips

Child’s Play: If you’re bringing kids along, check out Giggle on the Avenue, for lots of toys to make them happy and baby-gear, like stroller accessories, to make life easier for mom and dad.

Time for Bite: Before the festivities kick off, you may want to grab a quick bite at Meli-Melo, a popular eatery on the Avenue. It’s a sure-fire hit, especially for crepe lovers. Read our review here »

That’s Cold: If a chill hits the air, stop into Richards for the Daya Beige Silk and Cashmere wrap sweater. This super-soft, easy-to-wear, go-with-everything wrap defines cozy. You’ll love it throughout the season.

Snap It Up: Don’t forget to take photos! The best place a family shot is at Greenwich Harbor. If your phone’s camera is acting up, drop into the Apple store for a quick upgrade.
