Shortly after Megan moved to Connecticut from Ohio, a mutual friend introduced her to Michael at Tiernan’s Bar and Restaurant in Stamford. They soon learned that they had a lot in common—Megan and Mike both worked for GE and shared an affinity for country music. It was on Valentine’s Day that Megan and Mike had their first official date. The rest is history.
Father Tom Thorne officiated the ceremony at the Church of the Assumption in Westport. The reception followed at the Inn at Longshore and featured a special dance by the bride and groom to Nat King Cole’s “L-O-V-E.”
The daughter of Nancy and James Smythe, Megan is a manager at Pepperidge Farm in Norwalk. She received her bachelor’s degree in marketing and finance from the University of Dayton.
Michael, the son of Maxine and Robert Vipond, is an associate director at GE Capital in Norwalk. He is a graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Hawaii before returning home to Stamford
