A Deal Of A Meal

Been dying to try that new restaurant? Or perhaps gather friends and return to an old favorite? Now is the perfect time to get out your calendar and start making those lunch and dinner plans–Westport Restaurant Week is approaching! For two weeks, starting Sunday, October 5 and ending October 19, 27 restaurants will feature a prix fixed meal at a great price, ranging from a $15 lunch to a $35 dinner.

Tierra, relatively new to the Westport dining scene, is offering a $20 lunch as well as $30 dinner, with your choice of one appetizer and one main course from an abbreviated selection of thier Latin-inspired cuisine. Perhaps try the coriander crusted seared tuna salad and Tierra Cubano (oven roasted pork, pickles, ham, and Swiss) for lunch, or organic chilaquiles and pan seared scallops for dinner. The restaurant is also serving $5 glasses of their house red or white wine.

For a bit of Paris at a bargain price head to Rive Bistro. The $20 lunch offers a choice of two courses (from appetizers, main, desserts), featuring escargot, ham and brie sandwich, and chocolate mousse. The dinner menu—at $30—is three courses, with selections such as mixed greens salad with warm goat cheese, trout almondine, and crème brulee.

Always wanted to try Da Pietro’s but concerned you won’t get the real deal during restaurant week? No worries! Chef Pietro Scotti hasn’t cut any corners, offering extensive lunch and dinner prix fixed menus that list dishes such as Portobello Alla Griglia (grilled Portobello with organic green salad), Tortelli Alla Zucca (pumpkin-filled torellini with brown butter and sage), and Filetto di Maileage (medallion of pork over red cabbage confit). Lunch is $20, dinner $35.

And Westport Restaurant Week 2014 has a new addition this year—Specialty Cocktail venues. Imbibe in a pre- or post-dinner drink at either Luxe Wine & Cocktail Bar or Neat. This highly anticipated event is brought to you by the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce. So don’t hesitate–make your reservations soon!
