Festivities Foundation’s “Pass on the Love” Store
Well, that was a great party! One for the books. Maybe it took you a month to plan or well over a year, and now that everything has worked out, there’s just one thing left to do: pack it up.
While you’ll want to hold onto the memories, you might be far more willing to let go of the accessories you needed to make your party dream come true. The table cloths, the centerpiece bowls, the lawn lights and path markers—such things are no longer needed.
Now those essential extras can have a second life with the next person trying to pull together a bash for friends and family.
Event planner and caterer Rosinne “Roe” Chlala, partner and co-owner of Festivities, knows all about these things from the many years hosting events, from the first inklings of a creative vision to the last, lingering lights at the party dim. She even knows the ins and outs of small, intimate dinner parties to the once-in-a-life extravaganza. And that means she also is well aware of the accoutrements that comes along with pulling off such affairs.
The charity-inclined part of her brain had a notion. Looking at these beautiful items one day, it struck her that there might be a way to put the durable ones to good use. She established the nonprofit Festivities Foundation, and she called her first project “Pass on the Love: Celebrate, Donate, Support” (festivitiesevents.com/giving-back).
Using proceeds from her personally curated collection of tabletop items donated from events, industry partners and private collections, the program’s ultimate mission is to support safe and healthy homes for those at risk. Specifically, all proceeds benefit the work of The Center for Family Justice (centerforfamilyjustice.org).
The Center for Family Justice is an area nonprofit that helps victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Each fall, it holds an enormously popular and well-attended grand luncheon called Speaking of Women.
You can also pass on treasures that you no longer need after redecorating your home or during a move. “Pass on the Love” relies on donated items are donated, from individuals as well as venues and businesses.
