When designer Kat Rosier worked on the interiors of Kathy Georgas’ Greenwich home, the two became instant
friends. Kathy says she enjoyed the process of finding just the right pieces to complete her house. Now, a few years later, the two Greenwich residents are collaborating again on a home store called DA•KOR. Tucked behind Mason Street where there’s plenty of parking, the shop carries many items sourced from France and Italy, ranging from small gifts, lamps and throw pillows to luxe furniture, such as velvet-tufted ottomans and shagreen dressers. The metallic hide rugs on the floor are for
sale as is the white-and-silver-flecked wallpaper covering the back wall; customers can browse through books of Phillip Jeffries wall-coverings and order by the yard. “Our customers are well-traveled, savvy and sophisticated,” says Kathy, who notes that she seeks to find unusual items and coveted gifts. Cool finds in store right now: gold Buddha snow globes and a range of men’s presents like bottle openers made from vintage golf clubs. Designers are welcome in the shop (they receive a discount), and customers can hire Kat for full-scale interior design. Da•kor also offers a service called Finish. They will come in and photograph your space, and then handle the styling of bookshelves, coffee tables and entryways with just the right accents.

ZESTE

58 A William Street, 917-626-4611; zeste203.com

Southhampton style comes to Greenwich at a new gift shop called ZESTE. Founded by Stephanie Finkelstein, who owned an expansive entertaining store stocked with china and crystal in the Hamptons, this smaller boutique houses a well-edited selection of presents and home accessories. Stephanie finished her new store with sisal carpeting, white walls and open shelving to give the space a beachy feel. “Most everything in the store is from smaller companies and made in America,” she says. “Things you won’t see everywhere else.” Her regularly changing inventory includes hand-engraved stationery from The Printery out of Oyster Bay, leather frames and trays, Rica bath and body products, Illuminaria room scents, peace sign cups, gourmet food items such as Blue Hill jams and Savor Fine Foods’ biscuits and even organic, chef-made dog treats. Need a last-minute hostess gift or birthday present? Stephanie has a stash of elegantly pre-wrapped presents ready for quick purchase, as well as a wrapping station where she’ll put the finishing touches on whichever special items you choose.
