Most people aren’t fond of class group projects, but Lindsey Eaton Wood and Matthew James McMaster are thankful for the assignment that brought them together during their senior year at Darien High School. They started dating on the night of their high school graduation and maintained a long-distance relationship while they attended separate colleges, and again when Matt pursued a master’s degree. When Matt suggested a morning outing on one of their regular trips to Vermont, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Halfway up the mountain, though, Lindsey stopped to take a picture and was so absorbed in lining up the perfect shot that she didn’t realize Matt was trying to propose. A tug on the arm was needed for Matt to get her attention. After dating for eleven years, the couple descended the mountain happily engaged. Soon after, they were married by the Rev. David Anderson at the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, where a reception followed.
The bride is a daughter of State Representative Terrie Wood and her husband, Jay, of Darien. She attended Gettysburg College and currently works at Grey Group in Manhattan. The groom is a son of Sue and Andy McMaster of Darien. He attended Hobart College and received his master’s from Syracuse University. He works at Mark Finlay Architects. The couple now call Norwalk their home.
