The Mikey Czech Foundation’s fourth annual signature fundraiser, Soaring Towards a Cure, gave the guests who attended the opportunity to celebrate the life of Mikey Czech, who lost his battle against an aggressive pediatric brain tumor at age 11. Organized by the group Moms and Dads for Mikey and held at the Woodway Country Club in Darien, the event was also designed to recognize the important work of the foundation’s dedicated sponsors, patrons, volunteers and donors. A record $300,000 was raised through ticket sales and a live auction that featured backstage passes to meet the Doobie Brothers (one of Mikey’s favorite bands), dinner for ten by celebrity chef Ricardo Cardona and tickets to Super Bowl XLVI. The ballroom was decorated with butterflies to underscore the night’s theme and guests danced to music performed by Joe D’Elia and the All Star Band. The funds raised will benefit research at The Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School and the Broad Institute.
