Not all snowstorms create mayhem and drama. Some bring love and marriage. Emily and Stephen met on a snowy night at Davy Byrnes bar in Port Chester. Once the storm rolled in, no one was going anywhere. So the pair made the best of being stuck and got to know each other. They dated for eight and a half years before Stephen proposed at home in front of the fire, using The Elf on the Shelf and a witty poem. Father Eppy of the Church of the Resurrection in Rye officiated the ceremony, and a reception followed at Greenwich Country Club.
The bride, daughter of Robert and Penelope Grayson of Greenwich, graduated from Greenwich High School and Sacred Heart University. Emily is a veterinary technician at Pleasantville Animal Hospital in New York.
The groom, son of Richard and the late Harriet Dempsey of Rye, graduated from Rye High School and the Westchester Police Academy. Stephen is a police officer in New York.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Hawaii before returning home to Port Chester.
