Dr. Madeleine K. Albright, the first female Secretary of State will be the keynote speaker for the Fairfield County Community Foundation’s Fund for Women and Girls annual luncheon on April 11 at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich.
Dr. Albright is chair of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm, and chair of Albright Capital Management LLC, an investment advisory firm focused on emerging markets.
In 1997, Dr. Albright was named the 64th Secretary of State of the United States and became, at that time, the highest ranking woman in the history of the U.S. government. From 1993 to 1997, Dr. Albright served as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations and as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
She is a professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, chairs the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs and the Pew Global Attitudes Project and serves as president of the Truman Scholarship Foundation.
Dr. Albright is the author of five New York Times best-sellers and in May of 2012 was awarded the U.S. Medal of Freedom – the nation’s highest civilian honor – by President Obama.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Foundation’s Fund for Women and Girls has awarded over $2.5 million in grants to help nearly 3,000 women and girls throughout Fairfield County. Grants are awarded to support and create local nonprofit programs designed around the unique needs of girls and women.
The Fairfield County Community Foundation promotes the growth of community and regional philanthropy to improve the quality of life throughout Fairfield County. Individuals, families, corporations and organizations can establish their own charitable funds or contribute to existing funds focused on specific areas of need or communities in Fairfield County.
